I would love to play that snake filled level from Mega Man 3 in this new style, or close to it, if possible. I remember seeing it in magazines, there was one spot with a giant snake at the top of a ladder that every magazine back then used when covering MM3.
I believe games like Symphony of the Night were just the right amount of detailed pixel art that they are timeless. Like watching old Disney animation. Pixel art was around for decades but with 32-Bit, we finally had the first round of it being signficantly impressive over previous generations. Nothing on SNES or Genesis can compare to SotN for sheer detail. I just wish 2D was used more back then, but everyone was pushing 3D and that was where the big sales numbers were so goodbye 2D.
