Super Puzzle Fighter was one that missed me, I had so much trouble wrapping my head around the mechanics. I wanted to enjoy it but in arcades, it was always crowded so if I got to get a round in it was against a much better player. There was always a line so I did not often get a second chance at playing it.
I rented it on the original PlayStation but was busy most of the weekend I had it, again limiting my time with it. It looked awesome though, the animations of the characters fighting as you played.
Tetris was one I got by accident on the NES. Prior to that I was exposed to it on Commodore 64 at a friends house. We were rotating between 5 people so it was hard to catch on. When it came out on NES I got it for a birthday gift (I asked for Dragon Warrior but the store sold out so I got the "if they like DW, they will love this" suggestion by the clerk).
Now that I owned a copy, I could play Tetris as long as I wanted and it clicked rather quickly for me.
