I play solo, and turn off voice chat (team or world). That way I don't have to hear the toxic crap nor worry about getting paired with a toxic partner (you know the type, they hog all the loot, especially anything good).
I like to play solo versus four man squads. I can usually almost win. I posted one video where I got to literally piece meal a team apart and took the win. I am sure voice chat was nothing but toxicity when that happened. 😂
I know what you mean though. I played EverQuest, Ultima Online, and others almost from day one up to at least a year on each. It was horrible some of that crap said, how people acted, early days of doxing, or is it called swatting now, etc. because someone said too much in chat or voice chat and a toxic player found out where they lived or worked.
I avoid all that by turning off any and all chat options that I can, I ignore the rest and just play.
