I was never a big fan of Fatal Fury, it came out during a time I was horribly addicted to SNK's brawlers (Mutation Nation, Sengoku, etc.) and the arcades near me only had one Fatal Fury cabinet which was constantly hogged, just like the Several Street Fighter II cabinets they had. When I could get in a game it was usually against someone much better than me so my enjoyment was horribly marred early on.
I did get into SNK fighters with Art of Fighting and the King of Fighters series though. Those seemed a lot less crowded than the FF machines.
I can understand why people love this series, it is just I wasn't able to play it much during the time it could have been amazing to me as well.
