I emulate as much as possible. Could be for convenience or it is simply too costly to play an original copy. It doesn't help that a lot of games I cover are simply not available digitally for a platform I do own (I am mostly a PC gamer, stopped consoles with the PS3 and Xbox 360). Whenever possible I do support the digital re-release (sadly not as many of those as publishers would like us to think occur).
But then we have crap like Sega pulled, selling the Mega Genesis Collection (or whatever it was called) with 40+ games in it then slowly removed games from the collection down to 2 left. Where is the refunds for those that purchased it for the 40+ games? I did like that Sega allowed us to load our own mods into games like Streets of Rage 2 through Steam. Their removing it from purchased collections only to sell it back to us individually again is just wrong.
