I agree. I loved the first Sonic game but the gimmick quickly wore off as the game progressed, at least for me. Especially fighting flying bosses that could easily have included an obstacle course of some sort that used Sonic's speed as part of the fight.

Going back to the game now, yeah, no chance in hell I will make it very far at all.
