Capcom is hit or miss on supporting Nintendo consoles over the years. They made their name with Mega Man, Street Fighter II, etc all on Nintendo hardware in the home. As more powerful hardware came to be, Capcom would slowly move onto those platforms over Nintendo. Resident Evil debuted on Sony PlayStation, then hit the Saturn, but had to wait till the GameCube to get a remake. Resident Evil 2 did hit the Nintendo 64 though.
Capcom is bringing Resident Evil: Village, Resident Evil: Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3 to the Nintendo Switch. The catch is, they are cloud versions, digital only.
Cloud meaning, they are streamed, I would think. So, no download, no control whatsoever over the purchased games. Concerning.
This does give fans access to the first three games in the series though as the original Resident Evil is available for separate purchase.
I am not a fan of digital only and then couple that with cloud versions makes it even worse.
Resident Evil: Village will hit on October 28th, 2022 with the Winter’s Expansion launching on December 2nd, 2022. Winter’s Expansion will feature a third person mode, a new story, and more according to Nintendo Life.
What do you think, are you excited for these Resident Evil games coming to the Nintendo Switch? Being cloud versions, they could conceivably play on anything that can stream video over the web.
