Survival horror fans can finally enjoy Resident Evil 3 on their Apple platform. No matter if you game on an iPhone, iPad, or a home computer, Capcom has you covered. The only hold up is, well, you need a newer Apple product to enjoy this latest addition to Capcom’s offering. The M1 chip, or newer, is mentioned so if your Mac or iPad is newer than around late 2020 you should be okay – though your performance will probably differ on older chipsets. My big question is, why has the original Resident Evil not been ported yet?
Survival Horror Continues Growth with Resident Evil 3
When Capcom announced Resident Evil 3 it was quite popular, fans were loading their weapons of choice chomping at the bit to take out more zombies. Early on, not many understood exactly what Nemesis was, just that it was the big baddie in RE3 to watch out for. Just how integral Nemesis was to the overall game.
While the second Resident Evil was a two-disc affair, part 3 returned to being a single disc adventure. For some this was a bummer, for others it was a sign the story could be more streamlined and focused.
Game Everywhere
One thing that is interesting about this port of Resident Evil 3 is, it is playable across all the newer Apple products you own. The only requirement outside of hardware is to be signed into the same Apple account. Do that and you can play at home, save then pick up on the go on your phone or tablet.
That is a great feature and one I hope we see used more and more. It is a selling point. I have lost track of how many times I had to stop gaming to go do something then sit there with a lot of downtime. This crossplatform play would have been amazing during those times.
Touch controls on iPhone and iPad are fully customizable to your liking. If you have a controller you like to use, it should be compatible with Resident Evil 3.
