Could have been licensing issues. I only mentiond the possibibility of a 16-Bit exclusive deal with Sega since the Game Boy "The Real Ghostbusters" never got a Super Nintendo, or even Sega Genesis release. Maybe it didn't sell well enough? Kemco developed it but Activision published it in the United States and they supported the SNES with many different titles over its lifetime.
I know back in the day, we often didn't see the reviews till WELL after the game was already on shelves so we already spent our money hoping it was good. Often, by the time a magazine covered it, the title was replaced by the next wave of games.
Also, most mags that did previews were super positive, often just about graphics as they hardly mentioned any gameplay in a preview. I always read previews like they were sent a VHS tape with footage and were going off that but had hands on time for their actual review.
