When you think of the Raspberry Pi computer you may not think of the audio cassette. Designer Stuart Brand thought of that exact thing as evidenced with his latest creation. A fully working Raspberry Pi computer that fits inside an audio cassette. His is currently running a ZX Spectrum emulator, according to Yanko Design, because it was Brand’s first computer. What a way to pay homage to your past.
Talking with Yanko Design, Mr. Brand said this; “I wouldn’t have had a clue how to build any of this stuff before lockdown,” he said. “It goes to prove that you never know what you’re capable of until you give it a go.”
Using the Raspberry Pi Zero W for this project apparently was perfect for the cassette shell idea Brand wanted to use. Using a Dremel, needle files and other tools, Brand was able to create a new computer case that fits in his pocket.
This project is probably not for everyone because there is filing of the motherboard to fit the cassette case.
