I remember reading Gamefan and EGM back in the day and thinking this was going to eat Iron Soldier on Jaguar's lunch. The mags certainly made it seem that way too. I thought it was telling when local game stores had Jags running Iron Soldier available for customers to play but 32X was stuck with Kolibri or something only (even though they had Metal Head available). Maybe it was a store choice to not have two "mech" games in the demo units.
