Yes, it is quite a popular game. I know of a lot of people like that though, it is easily addicting to have a new skin or weapon. I personally have only ever bought the $5 monthly subscription (across several games like this, and many years, I have spent less than $100 like that).
I am not a pro gamer or anything, nor all that competitive, so spending thousands of dollars on a game like this is not going to happen. I play for fun and enjoyment.
For me these games are an escape from adulthood.
I came over to Call of Duty Mobile from PUBG Mobile after my device was taking forever to load that game. CoDM was much quicker to load, was more fun (to me) and easier to pick up and go. I saw less deaths in the first 10 seconds in Activision's game than I did in PUBGM as well. That being a key point considering PUBGM was taking almost 5 minutes load from opening to in game playing - only to die in less than 10 seconds.
