What console do you have? There are remakes of the PS2, PSP, and such on PS3/PS4 I believe. Definitely look into it a bit as there seems to be a proper way to play them - it is not the way Square Enix released them.

I played the first two on PS2 as they released and enjoyed them as stand alone games. I enjoyed them quite a bit - I bought them again after having long since sold off my first copies. They are fairly cheap on eBay.
