In arcades I sucked it up across the board unless we are talking brawlers like Final Fight. I only really got into Street Fighter II because my father got me a copy at Montgomery Ward for like 75% off (they messed up his rain check, remember those? and gave him too many discounts).
After I played it a lot on the SNES I then started whole heartedly hitting the arcade to play the next revision that allowed you to play the bosses. That was the only version available in Aladdin's Castle by this time so that is what I played.
I always preferred the combo system of SF2 over that in Mortal Kombat (when they finally added one). MK was more memorization of the button presses, like Killer Instinct, while SF2 required you to press them in succession at the right time.
