I left out the more deeper side of business (sponsors, television networks, etc. involvement) because it would have made this an 8,000+ word article had I included that influence.
It is strong though and sad that so many fans want to argue that outside companies have power or not.
For the most part, fans can control a lot of what is done on their favorite shows, not just wrestling really. With the capabilities companies have now thanks to streaming information, fans can control even more of what is going on.
Think about it, if someone like WWE sees fans watching on demand the content and a significant portion of those fans are fast forwarding through certain matches, and just say that match got bad response live, then does anyone really think those athletes are going to keep getting television time? Eventually it takes a toll on what is shown and what is not shown.
Today is a great time to be a fan of anything. Thanks to social media, YouTube, etc. it is easier today than ever to pass along that fans want more of this over that. Just sucks so many don't bother to use that power for anything meaningful (at least towards their supposed interests).
