Did you know you can make money with Bing Search Engine (Bing)? You can. It is not a lot of money and there is no referral program, so it is 100% on you but it is real money. It can offset some entertainment expenses so what do you have to lose? The best thing about Bing is, you are already searching so why not make some money doing it?
It is quite simple. You need a Microsoft account (likely, you already have one) and then sign in on www.bing.com. Once signed in you can view your account dashboard.
There are many ways to earn with Bing as well. Daily streaks are based on completing those three tasks at the top of your dashboard there. Scroll down a little bit to access more click and learn style quizzes.
Occasionally there will be additional themed earning opportunities. These are usually worth 150 points total and involve a few clicks.
At the top of your dashboard is your information banner.
Your name, profile pic, current point total, number of days in your current streak, and total points earned that day out of a total possible. Underneath that is “Points breakdown”.
Clicking Points breakdown will show more information. This gives you more details. You can see “PC search”, “Mobile search”, and “Microsoft Edge bonus”.
As you can probably guess, you get points for searches on PC and mobile devices (install the free Bing app). You also receive a small bonus each day for doing at least 4 searches on Microsoft Edge each day.
That is not a lot of points, but it adds up. If you go for the $5 gift card, then that is $7 a year for just using Microsoft Edge. That is on top of all the other points you earn.
You will also earn bonus points for streaks. I have learned that around day 50 streaks are done. My longest being 78. The next streak bonus might be 100 days but I kept resetting by missing a 10 point daily earner. This allowed me to catch the 45 point 3 day streak bonus more often (adding 400+ points to my monthly total).
Average I earn about $100 a year passively using Microsoft Bing. I go for the $5 gift cards myself, but they are not the best bang for your buck. They are just the most relatable to my needs.
All calculations are based on 9,000 points a month (average 300 daily points at 30 days average for the month).
I prefer to focus on shopping as I am not interested in contests for a chance to win X prize. Point breakdown later in this article will not include sweepstakes in the calculations.
First, anything Microsoft focused/owned, gets a discount based on your account level for the month. Maintain Level 2 for the discount. Your level is a direct relation to how often you use Bing. It is a reward for earning rewards.
Let’s take Xbox Live Gold Membership for one month as an example. As you can see, it is normally 9,500 points. If you are level 2 you get a 1,000 point discount.
That means each point is worth $0.00105. Level 2 saves you $1.05 a month off your Xbox Live Gold Membership. That is over $12.50 a year versus buying the membership out of pocket.
Going for the 3-month subscription can raise your points value to 0.0015, or a savings of about $18 a year. That is almost 2 months free.
You can get $5 gift cards to Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, Taco Bell, Walmart, Target, and many more. It is all about what you prefer.
I personally get the $5 Amazon gift cards. Looking at my options though, from writing this article, I may switch to the Microsoft Gift Card. Instead of spending 5,250 points for a $5 card, I would be spending 4,650, or a savings of 600 points. At conversion rates, that is a 10% savings back in my pocket to go towards another card.
Don’t care for the search earning? Prefer to add to it? Bing also offers cash back rewards. They work with A TON of stores. Of course, Microsoft themselves (for Office and other purchases), Xfinity, AT&T, Walmart, Burger King, Avon, Gamestop, etc.
Rebates range from 1 percent up to 10 percent and cash bonuses up to $300.
Okay, let’s look at the points themselves.
You can average about 300 points daily. That is around 108,000 points a year. Depending on your reward your value per point will be different.
I am going to use the $5 gift cards for simplicity. They are popular on Bing’s reward page as well. They also all require the same number of points.
That is $0.00095 per point. About $0.285 per day in rewards.

I know, that is not going to age well and, in a few years, people will probably reference this like they do that Starcraft contest from around 2010 that had 5th place being 25 Bitcoin.
