Remember the original Star Fox game on Super Nintendo? Remember that urge to do things that were ‘just outside’ the rules that Nintendo implemented? Well, with StarfoxEX you can do those things and so much more. Just make sure to grab this before Nintendo shuts it down. Sadly, we all know they will eventually.
Most hacks change a character or add a level or two. StarfoxEX goes way beyond that. Here, we are looking at quite a bit of new content, even fundamental game elements are changed.
Here are some of the changes you can experience with StarfoxEX:
High Frames Per Second (FPS) Super FX Mode
New bosses
Over 30 new tracks
Scope and SNES Mouse modes
3 page mod menu
NTT pad support
God mode
Ludicrous Speed (who gets this reference?)
Dark mode
And much more
You can have AI controlled wingmen, play with multiple friends, new levels, and more. New ships, new modes (wire frame mode anyone?), full camera control and no border mode are also included.
As with many of these level mods, you will need a special cartridge to play StarfoxEX on your Super Nintendo. Namely, the FXPak Pro cartridge. Read about it here (sadly, out of stock) and grab one on eBay here (prepare for price shock).
The FXPak Pro certainly seems to be the best such cartridge on the market right now. It is also the only flash cart that will support StarfoxEX on original Super Nintendo hardware.
You can still enjoy StarfoxEX on an emulator though.
Just make sure to grab this before Nintendo gets wind of the mod and has it taken down for legal reasons.
