If you are interested in grabbing a Disney+ subscription but unsure about the price, you may be in luck. It was just announced that the House that the Mouse Built is planning to introduce a cheaper subscription plan. It comes with a hitch though.
For the price, Disney+ is an incredible deal and hard to pass up. Sure, I get it, you already have 3 to 5 other streaming services you are paying for. That is fine. Just like getting cable though, you must decide what is more important to you.
It boils down to how badly do you want to watch certain shows and movies?
How many of those are on each streaming service you are paying for?
This being Disney, and them being traded on the stock market, makes me take that news with a bit of concern. They did not say cheaper versus the current subscription price, which is ridiculously low for what you get.
That leads me to be concerned that we are potentially going to see a price hike on “no ads” subscriptions. That would leave the “ad supported” subscription as being “cheaper”.
I see them raising the price of the current plan to around $9.95 a month, not daring to go over $10 a month. Not yet anyhow.
According to Android Police, Disney hopes to have 230 to 260 million paid subscribers by 2024. Offering multiple options for subscribers could be a way to make that subscription goal a reality.
According to the press release, the new tier will be available in late 2022.
