Altered Beast did exactly what it needed to do and nothing more. Sadly, this would be a common occurrence with Sega home ports of popular arcade games. They didn't add anything to entice fans to drop $40

Lol. There is a striking resemblance between the two.

This was one of my favorite PC games from this time period. It was also one of the few FPS games that ran really well on my crappy Pentium II with a Matrox video card. Such great memories on this one.

It definitely looks awesome. While I am not a fan of cell shading, how they are using it here seems to fit. I mean, it is a game based on a cartoon after all. I agree, they missed an opportunity with the

That one, Amerzon, completely slipped by me back in the day. I am going to definitely see if I can grab a copy of it sooner than later. Thank you for bringing it up.

Never heard of that one. Do you have a link to a video of it or something? I am a big fan of point and click games myself. I bought a Sega CD thinking Willy Beamish and Monkey Island were just the beginning

Unfortunately, probably a lot of scamming. I am willing to give it a shot though and see if I can make it through that phase till the scammers get tired and move on.

Oh yeah, there was a lot of change going on at that generation jump and many of our fave developers/games just didn't make the cut. Sad but true. That is a good point you made, one I had not thought about

Back then Namco was not as big as they were after the success of their 32-bit games like Tekken, and various arcade games from that time. They definitely grew exponentially between their time on Sega Genesis

I never took the time to dial in this one. I need to. It is still fun, even decades later.

You got a great value then. I still think Nintendo messed up not offering this as a pack-in at some point, maybe after the individual cart was no longer in production (they could save a bit on packaging

Yeah, I mentioned it at the end of the article. The PlayStation 3 game is a tough one to find at a decent price for sure. I have a link to it on eBay and a used copy is still around $40 with brand new

That is awesome. Thank you for sharing those videos. The second one, man, I never got that good at any of the music in this game. I did good to make some boops and beeps. Lol

Oh yeah, there are a ton of these classics that could be amazing with today's hardware. I figure most are not redone because, at this point, just who owns those titles is not easily found out. I know this

Unfortunately, Sega has never been known for sound business decisions. They have proven that time after time. Just look at how they handled the Saturn - no 16-Bit IP's brought over, no Sonic at, or even

Of all the licenses they could have pulled for a running game, Garfield is probably the last one I would expect. Seems, from your review, that the developers weren't into it either.

That is awesome. It is a good game, for sure. I love the attention to detail they put into it.

It certainly has an atmosphere about it.

I just looked and yes, I have the PlayStation 3 version. I just have to hook that console back up. I focus more on portable gaming due to real life getting in the way of being home for very long.

Great review. I have this game on PSP but never actually played it. I believe I even have a copy on PlayStation 3 as well (problem of having several hundred games is you forget exactly what you have).
