Panic is now slowly but gradually subsiding.. Queues in front of ATMs are getting down to 10-20, which is quite reasonable. Queues for deposits is still strong, but in the next 3-4 days, that too will come down. Army, Air-force and Navy is being used to dispense cash at remote locations, and people are now settling down.
Besides culling the black money, the decision to ban currency has actually triggered a wave of national unity and co-operation, which is only witnessed during times of national calamity. You feel warmed up when random strangers decide to arrange free food and water for the people standing in long queues, brands start giving free pizzas and hotels start giving free food to tourists. Noble people are arranging community services for helping old age people in banks, and even Govt. has now ordered separate lines for them.
Must applaud the arrangements made by Govt. to execute such a large scale operations, and kudos to bank employees for supporting the massive transformation.
On a side-note, people are now aware of all the ATMs which are functioning and which are loaded with cash. Thanks to the community generated excel sheets floating around. Now all that I need is some excel sheets to know how to upload cash into my bank account, so that I can use the excel sheets to know which ATM to use to withdraw that.
