Hey there fellow Steemians :D
Additionally to some travel stories that I will upload soon, I thought I would share some inspirational quotes with you daily that have let to major shifts of perception for me or just reminded me of what's truly important in life (if I miss a day, I'm very sorry, some days are soo busy!).
I'm a huuuge fan of pinterest and scolling through quotes in hopes of finding #motivation or inspiration, so these are my favorites that may not even be too well-known.
Please note that I do not own the pictures of this series (I will definitely add sources) and do not always know who first said these things ;)
I hope you can relate to some of the topics I talk about, so feel free to let me know what you think!
Here's #1 Enjoy!
I think almost everyone can relate to this quote, as I think that every person has had struggles in their past that have affected their later actions or even perception of themselves. If not, please let me know, I'd love to get to know a person that hasn't been hurt or hasn't felt like they've failed at something they thought important! Seems impossible, since noone is perfect and setbacks are a necessary part of life.
For me, there are many things about my #past that I don't like and tend to supress or feel angry about. I have actually had a lot of friendships slip away (meaning, they left me for other friends) which often made me feel unworthy or too weird to like.
I can't say I'm completely over it and feel nothing when I look back on those friendships, but I've been trying not to let those experiences make be bitter.
Holding a grudge against people that may have "betrayed" or really hurt you is easy, as it puts the blame solely on one person. But forgiving them and maybe trying to "climb into [their] skin", as Atticus Finch says and shows so well in "To Kill a Mockingbird", requires the conscious decision that you are not always the one who's right.
This shift from your own perspective and the whining about how bad life has been to you helps you see why it had to happen and how the past makes the #present "you" better. For me, after thinking about this quote, that meant figuring out why the broken friendships were good for me and how I can learn from mistakes that have maybe led to the events.
Honestly, I think those are the main reasons why my past had to be the way it was. I had to learn my worth by searching for relationships that were better for me and I also developed a lot throughout time and needed to adapt who I spent my time with to make the personal changes possible.
Of course I didn't consciously think that way when my friendships "faded away", but I also stopped fighting for people that wanted to leave after my first "loss" in elementary school. So subconsciously, I either knew that those people would become toxic later on, or I was simply to afraid to fight for what felt right.
I will end this rather long rant with a short question. Do you have faith? I do, because it enables me to let go of things I cannot change. I believe that everything happens for a reason and you should try to let the past make you better, not bitter :)
