(Trippy's art #2) Old 2017 drawing to Digital (Galactic Vibes Today)
Good Morning Hive
It's
If you checked my previous Trippy's art #1 post you know I liked to use Photoshop when I was a kid and I also used to do graffiti. Growing up unfortunately I have not continued with any of the two but I always kept my artistic nature inside of me and I kept doing some drawings during the years, just for fun!
I stopped doing graffiti actively at around age 17-18 (still did some every now and then but my last one ever on a wall was maybe 6-7 years ago) and I used Photoshop a lot between age 12-17 (After that I used it very sporadically for some bits, let's say a couple of times a year... slowly I forgot everything...lol).
Now that I'm here on Hive I can finally bring out those drawings and all that art I did during the years and show you guys, and because I like using PS and Illustrator I thought that now's the best time to get back to it and start using it, maybe in conjunction with my drawings!
So that's what today's post is about!
Manual drawings going DiGiTaL

Manual drawings going DiGiTaL
LoL 馃ぃQuick OT:
Now that I got back on PS and Illustrator I can't wait to learn all sorts of crazy stuff and get busy doing fun edits!
Here is a work I did the other day for my Hive profile, I needed some sort of banner or a nice picture to put at the end of my posts, I spent the whole day checking tutorials and drawing stuff but eventually I found a lovely tutorial to do a space nebula and I managed to come up with this (for my standards this is FIRE 馃敟 Ahahaha I would have never expected to be able to do something like that 馃憖):
End of OT
Trippy - 2017 drawing found in my drives!
Let's bring it back to life, shall we? 馃槣
Let's bring it back to life, shall we? 馃槣
Here is a picture of the original manual drawing I found in my drive:
(I also still have the physical copy in one of my notebooks)
It wasn't finished but it looked ok to leave it like this, I did not have occasion to return to work on this until today so I never finished it.
First I wanted to include the parts of the lettering that go out of the page so I did quickly edit the file in Photoshop to add some lines:
Definitely better, looks more complete now!
With the outline finished:
Done in Illustrator with the PEN TOOL (very long job, patience needed here 馃憖)
Next I made a single vector with all the outlines:
Here's the result without the reference picture:
Next I added some shading:
As a last edit I added the effects colouring the inside of the letters (grey part in original drawing), my girlfriend selected the green alien shock looking colour:
And this is the job pretty much completed, from this point we can literally do anything with this base (and the green is easily changeable to any other colour within Photoshop, if I know how to do it everyone should know how to do it 馃槣)
**EXTRA**: I did these 2 handy versions of the lettering!
Really handy because of the transparency, only the outlines exist in those files!I also did this one extra but never used it! I'll post it anyway, it looks cool-ish! 馃槣
So what? Is that it for today?
Of course not my friends, we just made it digital, it would be bad to stop all the fun now that we can actually start doing the crazy stuff! So let's see what your man
@trippymane managed to do in this sesh!
As I mentioned previously yesterday it was a fun Photoshop day for me and I spent almost the whole day doing and learning effects.
(I should be studying networking and IT to progress my career lol but sometimes I just prefer to spend a day doing this ahahahahah maybe it's an hobby I enjoy 馃榿)
I spent quite a lot of time doing nebulas to do my banner and those nebulas were sick let me tell you so why not use them for this as well heheh!
This was not a great idea LOL
As I started working with nebulas on this lettering I lost my whole evening doing it and FUN FACT! originally I wasn't even planning to use these nebulas at all, not for this project ahahah
I fired up Photoshop with the idea to work on this TRIPPY lettering starting just from blank letters with just a bit of Green and as I put the nebula in the document my evening was doomed... LOL
Here is the nebula I previously did and used for this work (If you see different colours in the pictures at the end of the post it's because I used different saturations of the same picture for this)
I don't really remember how I got here but I think the result looks sick:
And that's pretty much finished! Looks cool! IMHO 馃榿
Obviously it's not really finished, I could sit here hours trying to make this look different and add effects and stuff, and probably you can imagine how much stuff I did try and this final version it's not even the best of all the versions I had under my hands, but for the scope of this post I'm happy with this, I'll now post some extra experimentations to nicely end the post!
Probably you know how stuff goes at this point...
you start messing around with effects...
you keep finding the next level thing...
eventually you try loads of stuff and save some bits here and there...
overall you have no clue on what you've been doing for the last 5 hours...
So Yeah! I had loads of fun and here is a collection of what I think was my best experiment!

Coloured Trippy - no outlines (Just effects applied, nebulas and stuff...lol)
Coloured Trippy - Black outlines (This one looks delicious lol)
Coloured Trippy - While outlines (Not bad!)
For the Black and White outline pics I could have definitely applied some effects on the shade part (especially on the white version! The black I think it looks very good as it is) but it was very late and I had to go to sleep, the following day my memory was not that great to be able to just carry on from where I left so I think they're perfect just like that! LOL
Which one do you like the most?
I hope you had the same fun checking them out as I had doing them!
But don't ask me how I did it or to do it again...LOL
Joking 馃槣 if there is anything here that you would like to know how it's done feel free to ask in the comments!
If I still remember and know how to do it I will gladly help you!
Cheers!
