We covered Genesis 38:1-7 in Prosperity Post #20. To summarize, Er had just been smited for being wicked. Er’s wife, Tamar, is now a widow.
Genesis 38:8-10:
8 And Judah said unto Onan, Go in unto thy brother's wife, and marry her, and raise up seed to thy brother.
9 And Onan knew that the seed should not be his; and it came to pass, when he went in unto his brother's wife, that he spilled it on the ground, lest that he should give seed to his brother.
10 And the thing which he did displeased the LORD: wherefore he slew him also.
While it is true that every sperm is sacred, it is important to note that The Jesus didn’t slay Onan just for spilling his seed upon the ground, he slew Onan because he disobeyed the fourth commandment, honor thy father. When your father tells you to impregnate your dead brother’s wife, you do it! Or face the wrath of The Jesus.
