Some people wonder why I call Jesus, The Jesus. The answer is quite simple. First of all, there are people today named Jesus, so it is a matter of designating how much more important The Jesus is compared to all the other people posing as Jesus.
Second, Neo was “The One” in the Matrix movies. No matter how awesome Keanu Reeves is at playing a Cyberpunk Jesus, he can’t compare to The Real Jesus. (Maybe I should call him The Real Jesus from now on? I’ll consider it…) How can I not give The Real Jesus as much respect as a fictional Jesus?
Third, it’s about respect. We all give deference to our betters. In the U.S. this mostly means cow-towing to people with money. But no one is better than The Jesus, so we all have to pay homage to the one who will burn us for eternity for not doing so.
There ya go! Nothing like The Jesus. The Real Jesus? Hmm,… still thinking about it.
