Big day in the garden today. It’s taken quite a lot of planning but we finally made a start on backfilling our retaining wall today.
We wanted to try and keep the sleepers as dry as possible so we opted for aggregate directly behind the wall before soil.
To achieve this I built some formwork that could be placed behind the wall, filled with aggregate in front and soil behind, then removed.
To my delight it worked like a treat. Of course it all took time and we quickly ran out of aggregate but proof of concept achieved. Another big day and a few more loads of aggregate tomorrow!
