Apart from the standard maintenance that is done for a switch ,we also need to ensure that the switches are in the perfect environment to ensure that they work efficiently and last the normal life span so that our business gets the financial investment gain from our network.
So what do we mean by proper care and maintenance?
- Ensure that the switches are in a dust free room
- Ensure that it is in an air cooled rack.
- Ensure that there is an aircon in the room that the switch resides with proper air control measures.
- Make sure that aircon drip trays are not directly above the switches.
- Always ensure that you have your switches updated and patched accordingly.
- Label switches to ensure that you can track them in the event of something going wrong during maintenance.
