You know that feeling when you get along great with someone and you just enjoy hanging out next to each other even if you aren’t talking? Now imagine this person is a dolphin!
I was in Huntington Beach, CA yesterday to ride Jet Skis. There is a heat wave in Southern CA today so it was about 108 degrees. It’s was ridiculously hot but it made for a perfect Jet Ski day. Also, the waves were about 7 feet. This is pretty big for Huntington and it makes it great for jumping! Anyways, my mom and I (Yes I said mom, she is in her 50s and still loves to Jet ski) spotted a few fins in the distance so we raced over to find out what they were. DOLPHINS 🐬! Lots of dolphins! There must have been at least 12. This next part many of you will not believe. As we were riding next to them I kid you not they were jumping out of the water over our Jet skis! Until this day I never could have imagined I would be riding on a Jet Ski in the ocean with a Dolphin jumping over me! Absolutely crazy.
The Dolphins began to slow down so we followed their lead. At this point, we were only going a few miles per hour. The dolphins were swimming underneath us and around us. These untrained wild dolphins popped themselves up close enough to our Jet Ski that we could pet them. Although we couldn’t verbally speak to them, the dolphins and we both knew we had become good friends.
Even with the purple sunburn, I got that day I wouldn’t change anything. Spending time with nature is one of the most beautiful things.
