The longer I'm here the more clearly I see it, that we are here to help each other, and the more we lift those close to us, the more we ourselves are lifted. Choose kindness and generosity, always.

That is what makes Hive strong! And it lifts not only those closest to us, it spreads out. Imagine a cloth, or a net, and you pinch one part of it and lift it up? All the rest will follow to a greater or lesser degree!

I comment on and upvote a bunch of posts, so my votes are tiny compared to some. But I'd rather spread my !LUV than just have a bot decide where I should spend ten 100% upvotes on something I haven't even read. Maybe my votes aren't worth a lot, but I'm making friends, having fun, and learning, always learning new things! A new recipe, a piece of history or current events from somewhere I've never been, what to spend my tokens on, and so much more!

One habit I've got into recently is that if I have some VP left when it's time for bed, I go find a couple of posts from people I've never heard of before, and spend the rest on that so I get down to 80%. I search for a random keyword, something that interests me that day, see if there are any new people posting in a community I like, or last ditch check for new or trending posts. I might find someone new to follow, and they might get some encouragement. Win-win! 🎉

I seldom upvote comments anymore though. If I understand it correctly, a single 0.001 upvote from me will not be paid out, but I'll have "lost" the VP until it recovers after 24 hours. Better I spend it on a post that will get both the poster and me some returns, eh? Even if it counts for more in the engagement league. If that was my main concern I would spend my time upvoting dbuzz and waves :P

So I basically put off most of my Hive catch-up and tasks until much later.
