Keeping track of my tip tokens

A few days ago I commented to @flaxz that I wished there was a browser plugin to help me keep track of how many of the various tip commands I could use every day, and how many I had left. Now I've looked high and low, and there doesn't seem to be one.

I've been using marbles of different colours to keep track, moving them from one bowl to another, but the problem with that is that I'll have to remember what token a certain colour means, and sooner or later I'll need more marbles than will fit in a tiny bowl. Also, I can't see what colours the marbles are when it's dark. I really need to get some better light for my desk!

So I went hunting for an app, using Google, alternativeto.net and Apple's App Store among others. There were plenty, but most of them didn't fit my needs. Luckily I have a Mac with an M1 chip, so it can use some apps that are meant for iPhone/iPad, and I found one called Trivit. It's not perfect - I can't shrink the window enough to fit it in a corner and always be visible, and there's some clicking back and forth to access the minus button - but it will do until someone writes that browser plugin!

The ALIVE token resets its count at midnight UTC, so I have decided to go with that, and hope that other tokens use the same time. The first thing I do before anything else on Hive, once the midnight bell has struck, is to claim any token rewards. This can be done on ecency, and I assume most frontends, but Hive-Engine also has that function, and it's quite easy to use.

Then I head over to Hive Pizza and stake my tokens with one click! This only works for tokens you already have staked some of, so afterwards I check my stakes on BeeSwap to make sure nothing was missed.

After that comes the tedious part: checking how many tokens of each kind I have and how many tip commands that allows me, then entering those values into the Trivit app.

And, ready to go! Now, whenever I want to tip someone, I just check Trivit to see what's available, click the minus sign for the token I pick, and type the corresponding command into my comment!
