United States dollar started more than 240 years ago , since the Continental Congress of the United States authorized the issuance of the currency in 1775. However it was until 1792 than the currency became the country’s standard unit of money. The only time when banknotes showed the image of a woman was in 1886, when Martha Washington’s effigy was situated on the obverse of silver certificates for one dollar. However she was not alone, she was with her husband, the first president of the United States, George Washington.
