Fact!
The colosseum was made on the side of a giant man-made lake that the decadent emperor Nero decided to built as a part of his gigantic villa called Domus Aurea. After Nero committed suicide a couple of years later the emperor Vespasian decided to remove the lake and put an arena there to entertain the people. Vespasian also showed the Romans he was a man of people unlike Nero who’d taken all that land just for himself.
