DESIGNED ON CANVA
I grew up being incredibly honest in whatever I did. I was always the one to alert the elderly when someone acted inappropriately. Because I intended to always tell the truth, I was also called a gossip and a poke nose. However, that occasionally led me into difficulties because it has become the social norm to shun the proper people..
I'll use a specific instance..
So, I formerly resided with an aunt of mine. I loved my aunt so much that I would do anything for her. I still took the decision to do so out of pure love. However, after something caused me to entirely vacate her home and cut all ties with her, I wasn't comfortable with the concept when I first realized that she enjoyed hanging out with all types of men just like it was a normal thing to do.
When I went home one day, my aunt was as usual in her room with her male friend although she also had a child whose father wanted to marry her, she didnt mind it, She then asked me to take her son to get something to eat (as if I didn't know what she always did), so I dressed him up and we headed out to get a snack. After we had walked for a short while, I decided to go to my mother's place since it wasn't far from her house. I decided to stay for a while so I wouldn't disturb my aunt and her visitor, and when I thought the time I had given her was enough, we headed home.
Unfortunately, before I reached her gate, I met her son's father, who was a very kind man. My heart was racing restlessly in my chest because I was afraid he might ask what I was doing outside the house that evening. Thank God he waited until we all entered, and I was relieved to see my aunt's visitor in the living room, though he was only partially shirtless, I didn't even consider that her child father would bring up the subject when he left the room after bidding farewell to his son without acknowledging anyone else. The other man asked my aunt who the other man was, and she casually answered that he was just a neighbor. At this point, I was still calm, but when the man left the house, my aunt became agitated and yelled at me for going to her son's father's house to make up stories. ,I felt guilty because I hadn't planned on going there in the first place, but given that she was older than me and had took responsibility for my school fees, I took every word she said to core.
But, after much deliberation and after everything kept repeating itself, I decided to leave her house permanently in order to avoid problems and to avoid her being a negative influence on me. I couldn't tell my mother everything because she was helping me, and I knew if I told her, I wouldn't have stayed with her for the entire time; my mother would have confronted her about it, so I just decided to keep quiet and mind my own business; however, I was wrongly accused of spreading information about her.
I truly hate being talked down to. You should not put people in situations where they feel nothing, regardless of who you are or the offense.
I also absolutely detest being lied to; it irritates me when you know someone didn't do something but you wrongly blamed them, when you know deep down that person isn't capable of doing such a thing.
Perhaps it is because of my experience that I dislike being told a lie, whether against myself or against someone else.
