Nintendo is my least favourable gaming company that makes their own video game systems. The people in charge are geriatric to the point of abusing the copyright claim strikes on YouTubers, attacking modders that are preserving old Nintendo games from systems that they no longer sell, and their prices are still high, even after 3-4 years after release.

However, compared to Microsoft and Sony, who sees it in their interest to buy and gobble up whatever studio they can find, Nintendo actually fosters talent. Most of their developers are actually from Japan, and compared to Sony, they actually have a better future for Japanese game developers.

So I want to talk about their new Direct that was live almost a week ago.

New Exclusives; More Games

Ah yes, remakes, sequels, and spin-offs. And this one came in droves. Xenoblade Chronicles 3, Kirby: The Forgotten Lands, and Fire Emblem Three Hope(a musou game) were announced as new games. That, and Advance Wars 1+2 remake, and a new Mario Soccer game called Mario Strikers: Battle League? I mean, if you can't get FIFA to run well on this system, Nintendo would have seen fit to release their own version of a Soccer game instead.

And speaking of Soccer, I'd rather you play any game other than FIFA. Sadly, PES is dead, and EA doesn't care about the Switch ports, so the next best thing to look for is a Nintendo game that features Mario like he's Captain Tsubasa all of a sudden.

None of these are new IPs, but here's a big reason why you should care about these games; new IPs were already announced at the start of the Switch's release, most of these IPs are popular now so people would want new iterations of them to come. And they're not crappy sequels either, Nintendo has really high standards for something like that.

Almost all the games showcased here are releasing this year. A big incentive to keep up to date with their coverage like gameplay trailers, content map, and such.

Some Old Games Are Coming Back, And Ports

The new direct announced a slew of old games like Force Unleashed, Assassin's Creed II series, and Chrono Cross are getting HD remasters. If you've played all of them or some of them, then there's no good reason for you to pay attention to these. But a lot of people whom are young and haven't played them, would be the next best thing to check them out.

Also, ah, seems Baseball games are going multi-plat, that includes for the Switch. Yes, MLB The Show for this year will be its first Switch release. This also includes the Kingdom Hearts collection....as cloud versions. I swear to god, they need to stop with these cloud release, not everybody from every corner of the world can play these games with cloud only. Either the servers are far or they have terrible internet.

But, Portal is coming back. I think I'll play both games once they are released for the switch. Here's hoping cross-platform will be around. And, a Live A Live remake. I haven't played that one yet, but I heard it's a great classic, so am stoked to check it out.

Some of these games are just ports with added visual embellishments, kind of really late to the party, but I would suppose that this is Nintendo going further to embrace the rest of the third party market. They finally have a console that runs nearly head to toe against other systems. We just have to wait till Nintendo announces a much powerful system later on, before we get to playing our favourite games, NOT being on cloud!

The Switch Is More Affordable Than Everything Now

So, everything from the PS5 to the Xbox Series X is being gouged out, with ridiculous pricing and less availability for purchase. Switch isn't getting that price treatment the way these systems are. Yes, it's weird, because the Switch actually competes with the PS4 and Xbox One. Though, they released an updated version of the system with OLED screen, and have stated they have no plans to announce a new system anytime soon.

They have plans to keep the system going for maybe another year or two. Which would mean now is a good time to get the Switch if you can. Sure, it lacks fidelity compared to the rest of the systems, but the Switch compensates that with phenomenal game selections. And this Direct continues Nintendo's tradition of keeping players like me hooked.

I know there are not a lot of Nintendo players here, but I would like to think that could change anytime. Especially now, with people finding time than they had before the pandemic. There are a lot of things I haven't mentioned in the Direct, so I am going to embed a video here for you to check them all out.

I swear, 2022 is broke year, because this is where all the great stuff will be coming out. Looking forward to it as much as you guys.
