So glad you brought up to the issue of preference of the "original" tournament format versus the relatively new "anytime" format. I just made a detailed comment on the most recent @splinterlands post, and so I will simply paste that full comment here -->
"Hi. One general feeling I've had (as I am continuing to get accustomed to the "anytime" tournaments) is that - in my opinion - it would be great to the a MIXTURE of "anytime" and "traditional" tournaments. I liked the "feel" of the traditional tournaments, in that it is more "real-time". And while I surely understand the purpose and functions of the "anytime" format, and APPRECIATE those (including the ability to pace my "ranked" battles throughout a 24-hour period by alternating between "ranked" battles and "anytime" tournament battles (card picking), I still feel like we are now MISSING that enjoyable "real-time" tournament action, including the ability to watch the ACTUALLY battles in real-time, and get paid out when the tournament ends. I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY.... hope that you dudes will consider re-introducing let's say ONE traditional tournament per day, along with the now one "anytime" tournament per day, as I do believe there is enough of a demand for BOTH formats (myself being at least ONE instance of proof). If you re-added the traditional tournaments I would play as many of them as I possibly could. Please consider this."
