Among all my siblings, my elder brother could be considered my closest pal since we literally grew up together unlike my younger ones which the difference in age gaps is a little much.
As kids, since it was just @kilvnrex and I then, we were a good pair when it comes to having fun and playing as children.
Although sometimes, I play by myself since girl's play like folding clothes into the form of a baby, wearing mommy's shoes, wigs and the rest doesn't interest him.
Mom most times, leave him and I at home all by ourselves while going out and i remember how she would instruct him not to hit me no matter what i do..hahaha 😅 to tell you how stubborn i was as a child.
Alright, during one of the periods mummy went out, My brother and I were each preoccupied with what we find fun and just then, they brought light.
For clearer understanding, my country is still developing in matters that concern power supplies and since it's yet to be stable, we're always happy when the light comes, how much more as children.
Now there's light, we both forsake whatever we were doing before to sit at the front of the TV. I forgot to mention, we were fond of also doing the game “first to gap” but in this case it was “first to hold the remote control, is incharge of the TV for a given period before the next person” and my brother beat me to it.
He was in charge of the remote control, I couldn't talk, I just sat at the side and watched whenever he put on. My brother loved watching the popular wrestling then, I watched too but at that point all that was in my mind was my cartoon.
As soon as the timing was over for him to hand over the remote control to me, he kept on insisting that I should wait a little longer for that particular fight to end.
I kept on nagging and shouting on top of my voice for him to hand over the control to me, in the process the light went off.
Oh my! It was the cast of fry pan to fire, or is that not how they say it?😅
However, I was so angry, I couldn't even cry anymore and kept on punching my elder brother. And the funny thing is he just sat still and let me do whatever I wanted without even uttering a word. I believe that alone increased the burning fire, since my punches didn't make him cry. I went to the back of our house and collected the mob stick from where it is always kept.
In my mind, I would teach my brother a lesson today. And before you knew it, I used the stick to hit him on the head.
My brother still didn't cry and just looked at me before going inside.
As soon as my mom came home, I behaved as if nothing happened even though I knew he was going to tell on me. And of course after my mom heard about the whole event, i was expecting the regular punishment or to be canned, at the end it was an entirely different word that no one expected.
My mom told us to fight. I mean she set a match between my brother and I while she was our referee..lol
At first i was so happy about the match, and all my thought were “I'll beat my elder brother today ehhn” Being that his the quiet one among the both of us, i always thought he was weak not until he gave me a good beating that my brain reset and i even feel ill after that incident.
The gift price for the winner to be regarded as brother this or sister that… 😅 and since i lost to my elder brother, from that moment till date, I referred him as “Brother Kelvin”.
But thinking of it now, I can't imagine this being the reason I call my brother..brother and just believe my mom used the incident as an advantage to get me to address him in that matter since I objected to it from the very beginning. You're right to say my mom did the most, as expected of a typical African woman..hahaha😅
