I drove toward Little Italy, making a desperate jump over the unfolding West Harbor Bridge to escape pursuit. After arriving at Salieri's Bar, Sam handed Tommy an envelope filled with cash from Don Salieri. Grateful yet cautious, Tommy took the money for repairs, preferring a poor life over criminal danger.
I needed to drive straight to Little Italy, so I set out toward the West Harbor Bridge. I spotted the structure ahead and hoped we could cross safely, but the bridge was already unfolding in half as we arrived.
Tommy hit the gas and jumped the vehicle straight across the gap, an insane maneuver that Tommy mentioned he had never attempted before. Fortunately, the stunt worked and we landed on the other side completely clear of the immediate threat
From there, we only needed to head to Little Italy, hopefully without any further chaos. I realized I had lost more than half of my health during the intense chase, and my health was not regenerating on its own.
Despite the damage, we managed to reach our destination safely. Paulie asked Tommy to pull over right in front of the local tavern, which Tommy recognized as Salieri's Bar.
Paulie asked Tommy to wait outside while he'd go inside to retrieve something from the Don. Both Paulie and Sam stepped out of the vehicle and walked into the bar.
Salieri is the head Don, the powerful figure I suspect I might end up working under as the story progress.
While Tommy waited outside, Sam suddenly emerged from the bar in slow motion, reaching for something tucked inside his jacket. Thinking Sam was pulling a gun to shoot him, Tommy panicked and reached to start his taxi engine.
However, Sam simply pulled out a thick envelope filled with money meant to help Tommy repair his damaged vehicle. Sam explained that Don Salieri was incredibly grateful for the assistance Tommy had provided.
He added that if Tommy ever needed anything, whether a loan or some honest work, he should never hesitate to ask, emphasizing that the Don never forgot his friends.
With the transaction complete, Tommy drove away from the bar. When he opened the envelope later, the sheer amount of money almost gave him a heart attack. It was more than enough to fix his cab and nearly sufficient to buy a brand new one altogether.
Sure, the money was great, but he had no desire to mix with real criminals. He reasoned that it was far better to stay poor and alive than rich and dead. At that exact moment, he considered himself out of their world, and the mission came to an end.
To be continued.
