I decided to try a few contests just for fun. This was a "create a picture of a windy day", which poked me as yesterday I was driving down the highway and came across this scene.

High winds (50 mph gusts) and dry weather created a dustbowl affect above the highway that blackened out the sky so that visibility went from 100 feet to three. There were police cars on either side of the highway flashing their lights, with a few cars pulled over on the verge. A telephone pole had broken off at the base and live wires were flickering.

I was lucky enough not to be caught in the melee. I'm sure I didnt do the scene justice as the trees and grasses were bent sideways while the sky was just a big horizontal band of grey and brown dust blowing over the roadway, but in the distance one could see the far mountains and bits of sky above the dust cloud. Twas quite a sight to see...

Here is my very amateur non-digital entry for "A very windy day"..
