Hey all, this is my first curation for Creative Coin. I've done a lot of thinking about what kind of posts that I'd like to curate. When I began writing I wanted to highlight the person rather than a post, but then I found myself including, like 20 links to all of their posts instead of making you poor sods do the research. So ima mention each person with a link to their CCC profile, and one of two amazing posts to vote on.
Note: all proceeds drom this post will go to the artists featured, so I will be upvoting it myself for a bit of oomph.
I tend to look for things not many other people are doing; something out of the mainstream. This will hold true for curation as well, but its gonna be a tough balance because so many of the authors I deem worthy of mention are also the curation team favorites. My original list had Serena, Breezin, Amber, Zippy, Crim and BarbaraOrenya (women are awesome, what can I say?) but since they were already mentioned this last week I felt I needed to go another route and mention some of the guys.
artwork from her eye glowed red, (<see original here), by carlgnash. edited to fit nicely in ma blog
This first person is one of the most creative and inspirational guys I know. (ok ya i'm a bit biased on this one, deal with it). He picked me up when I was low, encouraged me to believe in my worth, and constantly amazes me with his creative versitality and ready humor. If you dont know him, you should. He is an awesome curator himself, and if I dont stop complimenting him I might never stop. Oh! and he wrote me this song for my contest!!
gnashster, as some of you might know him as, is a dad, musician, singer song writer, visual artist, doodler, naturalist, photographer, historical researcher, videographer, story teller, bot creator, promoter, clothes designer, and friendly local alien. The piece I'm featuring is called Her eye glowed red, part four in a continuing real life alien reptile saga, complete with original artwork and sci-fi drama :) What more could one want?
photo excerpt from this handsome devil I made, 3D modelling, art and tutorial by @theartofori
I first noticed Ori's work a month back when he posted his painting of a chicken. His use of color and the story that went with the art was an instant draw. However it wasn't until I became ensconsed in CC that I consciously began paying attention to his work, as he uses a variety of mediums in this creations. When I saw his sculpture post where he talks about CNC milling, I immediately said "wow", and invited him to begin using the #creativecoin tag.
Since then, he has presented surrealstic fish, monsters made with virtual reality paddles, 3D creatures and a few time lapse videos, among other things. I love that he documents his work and allows the reader to see into his creations with tutorials and presentations. Please be sure to check out his work!
still capture of a waterfall in Vintgar Gorge, Slovenia, by johannpiber
One day, an incredible nature photo from a contest caught my eye. Even though johannpiber is Austrian, writing in both english and german for his audience, takes you with him on the most intimate amazing walks and adventures into the countryside around him. In his blog you might see a deer, a bumblebee or a sunrise reflected in a crystal lake.
I am very much attracted to this mix of gratuitous travelling mixed with nature and exquisite photography. If you are as well, they are all right here on one page :)
I wanted to include more artists in this first curation, but I am running out of time today and wanted to give these amazing artist credit as soon as I could. I will try to include more as I see them!! More later, I promise!!
Just a note that artists who are able to document their work get my notice. Yes I know this is difficult to do in some cases, but not impossible. At the very least I'm looking for something that speaks about the creative process, mentions tools or techniques, tells a short story about the photo/image/art you created, what drew you to that place, moment or theme.
