Hi, my dear friends!
Another week of January has come to the end. There is only one left. It's amazing how kind the weather is to us. Russia thought the cold would break us, but apparently God had other plans. I hardly even heat the house because it’s warm enough! Of course, I understand that February is still ahead and it can bring unpleasant weather surprises. But it's only four weeks! And then spring will begin.
So what was this week like.
Of course, the main event of the week was the arrival of baby Romeo. As I told you, my friend and I had to plan a whole operation to meet him. The bunny was coming to us by train from the city of Dnipro. But the train arrived in Kyiv too late for me to meet him and get home before the curfew.
Then we decided that my friend, who lives closer to Kyiv, will do it. She met Romeo and took him to her apartment, and the next day she brought him to me.
Romeo is still quite a baby, he is not even a month old. He was born on December 27, 2022. He is very gentle and affectionate.
A few more words about our earlier newcomers.
Lucinda, Josephine and Pierre are already fully settled in their new home. Pierre even sings in the morning, as every rooster, who takes his duties responsibly, should do.
I was somewhat concerned about their well-being earlier, when it was colder. They have bare necks and I couldn't turn on the heating lamp due to the lack of electricity, so if the nights were especially cold I just took them into the house. But now there is no such problem, in their chicken house the temperature is quite normal so that they do not catch a cold.
Cat Noel. This is a complete disaster! Three weeks have passed, but Noel still does not make contact. He hides and hisses. Of course, we don't know what happened to him. How did he end up as a street cat? How did he live? Maybe someone really offended him...
I show maximum patience and do not lose hope that his behavior will change. On the other hand, he has an excellent appetite and this calms me down.
I have already said that war turns the simplest things into a quest. Watch any movie about the apocalypse and maybe you will understand what I'm talking about 😉
Replacing the water in the aquarium is technically a very simple thing: pour out the water, wash the aquarium, fill the aquarium with water, let the water stand for a few days, then populate the fish or turtles. That's all.
But now imagine that you only have water for a couple of hours a day. Filling an aquarium of 300 liters is quite a long time, especially considering that the water pressure is so weak that it simply does not reach the second floor where this aquarium stands.
Another point that complicates things is that in the absence of electricity, the pumps in aquariums do not work, so it is necessary to change the water as often as possible. I'm really looking forward to spring when my fish will move back to the artificial lake so I can have an additional aquarium for the turtles. Of course, all this is quite tiring, but nothing, I can handle it. In the end, these are trifles compared to last year, when there was no water and electricity at all, tanks of fascist russia drove along our street and there were constant shelling.
A common routine is cleaning the cages of small birds. These are those birds that cannot be returned to the wild due to their state of health, as well as finches and parrots, which, in principle, do not live in the wild in our climate.
Usually they spend the warm season in outdoor enclosures, which is not only easier for me, but also more beneficial for them. But in the cold season, I take them to the house, which, of course, adds to my work.
My dogs are the ones who feel great no matter what! The beginning of this week was a real stress for me: rain and mud. I almost fainted when they came home from a walk: eighteen hellishly dirty dogs! Seventy-two hellishly dirty paws! I had no choice but to close the exit to the garden, leaving at their disposal only the paved part of the yard, which I had previously washed.
Of course, they were very disappointed: after all, digging in the ground, and then listening to my sorrowful cries - it was all so much fun for them!

But in general, this week was quite calm. I don't know what the next one will be... I have big plans. In addition, it would be necessary to take care of the plants, including the time to sow the seedlings of some flowers. Where is the time for all this? On the other hand, I had to stop the renovation work on my house for a while, because it became too difficult with the lack of electricity. But for some reason there was no more time ...
