For those who haven't met them yet — this is Sultan and his ladies. Chinese Silkie chickens. Or, as I call them — my fluffy garden dinosaurs 😄
I had been dreaming about this breed for a long time. A very long time. Something always got in the way — wrong time, wrong place, one thing or another.
And then 2022 happened. Occupation. I don't want to go into details about what I lived through. But when it was all over and I realized I was alive — something clicked inside me. I understood that "later" and "someday" are a luxury you can't always afford. Life has to be lived now.
That's how they ended up with me.
Chinese Silkies are not a breed for eggs or meat. They are a breed for the soul. They look like tiny dinosaurs and fluffy clouds at the same time. They are especially funny when wet after rain, walking around with an air of complete dignity — as if everything is perfectly fine and they absolutely do not look like drowned cats 😄
Sultan is my favorite. With that crest, that dark face, that posture of a rooster who knows everything about everyone — he is the undisputed master of the situation. The ladies beside him are his loyal courtiers, and he knows it.
Today the whole company was inspecting the garden jungle. I'm currently in the middle of an epic battle with hops taking over the garden, but the chickens couldn't care less. They wander through the chaos with an air that says this is not a neglected garden at all — it's a specially designed walking space, created just for them.
