For some reason, when they want to humiliate someone's mental abilities, they say "stupid chicken". Every time I think - the one who says that obviously never lived next to real chickens and has no idea what kind of creatures they really are, and saw them only in a picture or on a shelf in a supermarket (I don't even want to discuss the latter, because I'm a vegan).
Chickens are very intelligent. Seriously. And I say this not as an animal lover to whom they all seem smart, but as a person who observes them every day and is constantly convinced of this in practice. It's no coincidence that now many people have chickens as pets.
Here's a simple example - nests. If you think that the chicken will just sit where you tell it and will calmly lay eggs - you are a very optimistic person 馃槃 Of course, if you do not leave them any options at all, they will sit in the chicken coop. But it is only necessary to give them a little more freedom - and the real quest begins. And I also say this from my own experience.
I don't know about other chickens, but my chickens hide their nests so that finding them is a separate art. Under the bushes, in the corners that you haven't checked for a long time, behind some boards, in the thick grass, in the doghouse (no one uses the box, my dogs live in the house on the couch 馃槀) - in general, where you definitely won't guess to look. I already thought that my chickens stopped rushing at all - and then I found eight eggs in one place at once. We sat and waited for me to calm down and stop looking.
So the next time you hear "stupid chicken" - know, this chicken has probably already hidden eggs from you in three different places and knows perfectly well what it's doing 馃槀馃悢
