As a native Mississippian—this makes me sad. The efforts of those who are working tirelessly to make changes here will always be buried underneath shit like this.

EDIT: MS is one of the slowest growing states (https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.usatoday.com/amp/1019429001) and loses young people more than any other state (https://mississippitoday.org/2018/08/17/key-economic-report-confirms-mississippi-losing-millennials-faster-than-any-other-state/), a phenomenon which our conservative governor repeatedly denies despite literal FACTS.

I have no authority over the data or science, but I can say from 100% personal experience that almost every person I know around my age is leaving or is actively trying because they can’t fight a losing battle anymore. Those that remain are either happy with the way things are or are stuck in a perpetual cycle of bullshit.
