What really bothers me is that people are so obsessed with ancient Egypt and ancient Egyptian gods but nobody gives a shit about modern day Egyptians, nobody cares that the illiteracy rate is up to 40-something % and that it’s the worst country in the world for women given the fact that 99% are victims of sexual harassment/assault. If you’re going to glorify ancient Egypt and write books and make movies about it, try to raise awareness about the suffering current Egyptians face at the expense of dictatorial regimes and patriarchal societies.
