Waiting for feelings
We all have basic knowledge about communication, there is always something to say, isn't it? But above all, there is always a LOT to learn.
In theory we can say that we know "enough" because communication is something natural for us, however, when it comes to expressing what we feel everything changes drastically, why?
The truth is that in a regular chat we find it easier and we are totally explicit expressing what we dislike about someone, we have that tendency. The funny thing is that it's the opposite when we try to tell someone how much we value them or just point out their strengths, even worse when we try to tell someone that we love them.
For some reason (a very sad one), we tend to wait too long to express what we feel, sometimes when it is already too late, honestly I think it is never too late for that, but there are cases where we tend to wait until they are dead to allow us to recognize how important they were to us and express all our appreciation towards them, however, criticism is something that is always present in our relationships, that is used and accepted only under the global context of acceptance and love.
There is this practical overvaluation of the negative (almost to the point of stupidity), given the effects it causes in us and the others involved, in addition to the lack of expression and recognition of the positive, opening the door to pessimism, bitterness, depression, loss of objectivity in the perception of others and ourselves, the devaluation of self-esteem and finally that we stay with the negative concept we have of ourselves, accepting it as our personality and reality.
Although we can cope with these negative effects, we still seem to find it difficult to express affection through speech, gestures and actions. Somehow to keep hope alive, we assume that it is a given and that "it's a given!."
Why is it so difficult for many to recognize the positive?
Sometimes even what pleases us is difficult to accept, for fear of what others might think, also for fear of becoming narcissistic or that the other will get a rise out of him, when the reality is that doing this makes us more aware of our capabilities and limits, it lets us see how we are affected by others or the effect we have on them, giving way to a more sincere and total acceptance.
In general, we simply find it hard to express what we feel, from telling someone how we feel (whether negative or positive) and what we desire.
We get used to thinking that the other person understands us and also understand he situation enough to know without having to say it, we take it for granted that the other person is intuitive enough to know, but we cannot forget that they cannot read our mind. The fastest and most direct method is to tell him/her, of course we do not know how the other person will react, but this way the possibility of something good happening is present and it is up to him/her to decide what to do freely taking into account our sincerity.
