Mi sobrino

Hoy es uno de los días más felices de mi vida porque después de muchos obstáculos, problemas de todo tipo, riesgos, incomprensiones, salida del país y dolor familiar, mi sobrino Luis Antonio Pérez Hemminges fue subido a La Liga Élite del béisbol en Cuba.

Desde pequeño sabíamos que tenía condiciones para llegar a jugar en el mejor béisbol del país y transitó por todas las categorías, destacándose por su versatilidad, buena mecánica de bateo y excelentes condiciones para la defensa de campo.

Cuando arribó a la edad de 17 años, estaba entre los mejores prospectos del béisbol en Cuba, estando en el lugar número 9 entre los talentos del deporte nacional del país.

Sin embargo, no tuvo todas las oportunidades para su desarrollo y decidió salir del país en busca de nuevas oportunidades y se estableció en República Dominicana. Lamentablemente, en el asunto de salir del país, su papá no pudo irse y el joven tuvo que enfrentarse solo a ese proceso.

En el país caribeño fue visto por 28 de los 30 equipos de las Grandes Ligas del béisbol de los Estados Unidos y, tuvo dos propuestas de contrato, pero, el representante que tenía consideraba que era poco dinero y no pudo firmar.

Después de 18 meses le sugirieron salir de ese país porque ya tenía mucha edad para entrar al sistema del béisbol profesional de los Estados Unidos y decidió regresar a Cuba.

A la Élite

Afortunadamente, este 24 de abril lo subieron al equipo de Las Tunas, equipo en el que hizo su debut en la Serie Nacional, aunque, en aquella oportunidad solo le dieron cinco turnos al bate.

Ahora, comenzó jugando en el campo corto, pero, también juega tercera y segunda base. Tiene una buena mecánica de bateo y ha ido alcanzando masa muscular y, por ende su fuerza al bate ha ido en aumento.

Ayer salió como bateador emergente y, en su primer turno al bate, conectó un hit por el jardín derecho y, en el segundo, conectó un elevado al jardín central.

Cuando la familia se enteró de este logro, recibió muchas felicitaciones por el grupo de WhatsApp que tenemos.

Todos le dejaron un mensaje de felicitación o reconocimiento por el empeño.

Yesterday he came out as a pinch hitter and, in his first at bat, he hit a hit to right field and, in his second at bat, he hit a fly to center field.

When the family found out about this achievement, they received many congratulations through the WhatsApp group we have.
