A necessary introduction

Today is International Children's Day, and working to achieve the greatest well-being and happiness for all children is a task that concerns us all.

There are several reasons that prompt us to publish this article, including:

· Children are the ones who know how to love.

· They are the future of society.

· They are the hope of the world.

alt

But we often forget these details and neglect children's education, thinking that it comes naturally and that it is not necessary to work to instill values and cultivate joy and happiness.

Why is it important to cultivate children's well-being and happiness?

What activities can we do to promote their growth and development?

How important are children to the family and society?

This publication addresses these questions as a modest gift to children and an attempt to contribute to their happiness and well-being.

International Children's Day

On June 1, 1956, the United Nations General Assembly agreed to celebrate International Children's Day on that date, with the aim of celebrating the harmony of this population around the world.

However, the reality is that this is often forgotten and we do not respect children's rights and mistreat them or treat them like adults, forgetting that their physical characteristics, emotions, and feelings are far from those of adults.

José Martí, the National Hero of Cuba, said that children were born to be happy and that those who do not have this motto in their lives should work to make it their own.

Why is it important to cultivate children's well-being and happiness?

Sometimes we think that happiness is difficult to achieve, but the reality is that it is a process made up of small actions that allow us to have a good emotional state.

For children, happiness and emotional well-being are essential elements in their growth and development because they put them in a favorable position to face the challenges they encounter in daily life.

Happy children develop stronger social skills, have excellent interpersonal relationships, and exhibit very good social and community behavior.

Another significant factor is that a happy child with adequate well-being performs well academically, is more motivated to learn, and concentrates better on school and home tasks.

In addition to the above, happy children are more likely to become productive, educated young people who are committed to their personal development and that of society in general.

What activities can we do to promote their growth and development?

Before suggesting activities, it is important to note that, at present, there is a tendency to forget traditional games that promoted emotional development and relationships between children in favor of phones, computers, or other digital devices. I have nothing against technology, but we must promote activities that encourage interaction and development among children. These include:

· Outdoor games that encourage interaction, physical exercise, and learning about the place where they live.

· Activities that develop their creative abilities, such as drawing, painting, writing, or crafts.

· Promoting sports, especially team sports, to develop discipline, solidarity, and teamwork.

· Encouraging a love of reading because of the knowledge it brings. In this regard, it is very important to use the technique of shared reading because it improves the parent-child relationship, promotes the development of language and spelling skills, and offers children a world full of knowledge.

How important are children to families and society?

Children are essential to families and society because they are the light we need in dark times. As the youngest members of society, they are the future of our countries, and ensuring that they grow up healthy, happy, and emotionally well-adjusted guarantees a healthier society.

They strengthen family ties and make us more responsible, loving, and committed to the whole family.

Before concluding, a word of advice: Every child has a different personality and is unique, and we should not make the mistake of comparing them because that hurts them. Each child brings their own perspective on life and creates according to their talent and perception of what they see and the environment in which they develop.

A final comment

José Martí said: “We work for children because children know how to love, because children are the hope of the world.”

There is no better way to sum up this post than with that quote from the teacher of all Cubans.
