I already write about Chinese Garden before, but somehow I always end up coming back here again. I think this is already become one of my favourite place in Singapore when I just want to walk without thinking too much.
This time I came again in the late afternoon. The weather look like going to rain but at the same time the sky still got some blue part, so the whole place look a bit dramatic that day. Big cloud everywhere, some sunlight coming from behind it, and because the garden is quite open, you can really see the sky properly.
I don't really have anything specific that I want to see also. Just walk like everyone else , enjoying the view and the breeze , watching people enjoying that place too where some of them come here with their friends , family, love one , while other just another regular day for jog .
When entering the area, I stop awhile near the map even though I already roughly know where I am going. Chinese Garden is actually quite big, and every time I come here I feel like I still can choose another small route and see slightly different thing.
The pagoda is probably one of the part that always make me stop and take photo even though I already got photo of it before. From far it already can be seen between the trees, then when walking closer, it slowly become bigger and bigger in front.
The sky that day make it look even nicer.
There was this big dark cloud behind the pagoda, but some bright blue sky still open around it. I think I took too many photo of the same pagoda from different angle. One from the front stairs, another from the side, another from far away along the walking path.
But never mind la, every time the sky different, the photo also feel different.
I like the walking path around here because it doesn't feel crowded most of the time. Got trees, flowers, some small pond, open grass area and a lot of space just to walk slowly. Sometimes I stop because of the view, sometimes because I see one big old tree, and sometimes just because I lazy to keep walking.
There is one area with huge trees that I really like.
The roots and trunk already look very old, and the trees are so big that the branches almost cover the whole sky above. Under it got this open area with a few swing chairs. I sit there for awhile and honestly this is the kind of place where I can just stay without doing anything.
No shopping mall, no cafe, no need to spend anything.
Just sit and look around.
The weather also become a bit cooler because the cloud was getting thicker. That kind of weather is actually perfect for walking here. If middle of afternoon with full Singapore sun, I don't think I can walk that long without looking for aircon every 10 minutes.
I also pass one quiet pond area. Nothing much happening there, but that is exactly why I like it. The water was calm, flowers and grass around it, then at the back still can see some buildings far away. It remind me that I am still inside Singapore city, but somehow this side feel very far from the busy part.
There were not too many people around also. Some people walking, some jogging, some just sitting and taking photo. I saw one girl walking ahead of me for some time and it make the path look even more empty because there was almost nobody else around.
I think this is why I keep coming back to Chinese Garden.
Not because there is something new every time.
Actually most of the things are still the same. The pagoda still there, the trees still there, the same walking path and the same lake. But somehow the place feel different depending on the time, weather and how crowded it is.
Sometimes sunny.
Sometimes raining.
Sometimes very quiet.
This time the sky was the main thing for me.
Big cloud, little bit of sun, blue part opening here and there. Even the normal trees suddenly look more interesting when the sky behind it look like that.
I never really plan to spend many hours here, but usually once I start walking, I just continue. Then stop for photo, sit somewhere, walk again, take another photo of the same pagoda that I already photographed last time.
Maybe that is already enough reason why this place become one of my favourite.
I don't need any special plan when coming here.
Just come, walk, sit somewhere, and see what the garden look like that day.
And probably I will write about Chinese Garden again another time, because I know this will not be my last visit.
