The way of man with a maid is one of the three outstanding events in the life of every human being. The circumstances and events surrounding person’s marital relationship, is the only one, which is largely within the control of that individual. It has been said that the choice of a life companion will to a greater dimension determine the joys and sorrows in a person’s life.
This choice could also lead to fulfilled dreams or unfulfilled desires. Happiness or unhappiness could equally be the end result of this important event. Finding meaning and purpose in life could also depend on our choice of friends and companions.
There are some important questions that need corresponding direct answers. When should I begin to date a member of the opposite sex? What codes should guide me when courting? When and who should I marry? These are among the questions that are asked by young people around the world.
During His earthly ministry, Christ addressed a more inclusive question on the right way to relate to others as we live day to day. He did this when one of the scribes came to Him and wanted to know the first and the greater of all the commandments. Jesus made it clear that:
The first and greatest of all the commandments is the Love the Lord your God with all heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. And the second is to love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these (Mark 12:29-33)
The lesson, which Jesus Christ has communicated to us, is that we must use our hearts, souls, minds and strength filled with love in our relationships with others. If we must relate rightly with our fellow human beings, we must first of all be right with God.
I will begin answering these questions in the subsequent posts. Do well to ask your own questions too as to help me come up with as much questions as I can.
The objective of this series is to guide help young people of this present generation to make the right decision on their relationship based on the living word of God.
Do you recall how you felt the first time that special individual told you “I Love You.” Christ is concerned over our love-life. From the Bible He is saying: “Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the “children” of God” (1 John 3:1). “He that touches you touches the apple of his eye” (Zechariah 2:8).
“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love; therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee” (Jeremiah 31:3). It is on the basis of this love of God to us that I begin this series.
May this be a blessing to all who would read and do what is recommended.
