This is just a quick post about a rather odd daytrip from Queenstown- New Zealand. I say odd because of what the place actually was, compared to what it's used for. You'll see what I mean shortly.
This trip was the first time I ever tried paddle boarding too which was pretty cool.
Take a look at this picture, what do you see?
A lake perhaps? A pool? A giant puddle?
Wrong! It's a Quarry!
That's right, the first time I ever learnt paddle boarding was in a Quarry lol! You'd think the water would be murky and muddy...nope not really. It was cold though!
In fact I was able to swim underwater with my eye's open and it felt like dipping my head in a bucket of tap water. Really refreshing!
What's it actually called? I've no idea. I couldn't find anything on Google. It seems this place is only something the locals know about. It was some locals I lived with that invited me.
You'll notice I didn't take many pictures, mainly in fear of droppping my camera in the water. I believe they said it was at least 20 meters down.
I don't know about you but I can't dive THAT far!
This place is a hidden gem in the area, people visit sure but it's not the most talked about place. Probably because of the 45 minute drive to get there.
People prefer this much more lical lake..
Sadly the weather was cold and wet that day, so we had to give it a miss.
I know this isn't the most scenic area; and trust me there's some of those to come. But for me it sticks in my memory.
I seem to choose odd places to try new things:
Whatever next?!
That's all for now, thanks for reading.
Till next time...
