What you mention in your post is really important, discovering the path and following your own tastes and interests can only be achieved when you have a true creative spirit and freedom to experiment as well as to deepen your skills, capabilities and abilities. Homeschooling is really wonderful, when my kids were with us at home for two years because of the pandemic they learned at their own pace and in a very creative way, plus my wife and I were able to get more involved with them and that is an added value.
